21 Jun 16The Digital Curation Unit of the Athena Research Centre hosted an ARIADNE summer school in Athens on legacy datasets and the digital curation of archaeological knowledge from 12-17 June.

As of the 28 May 2016, the Hungarian National Museum’s Archaeology Database has been available online for researchers, field archaeologists, museum curators and members of the public.
The database was first introduced to archaeologists on the 4 May, 2016 at the Hungarian National Museum before the final testing and live launch. The database is part of the ARIADNE project and its development was supported by the 7th Framework Programme of the EU.

The 21st Conference on Cultural Heritage and New Technologies, CHNT-2016, will take place on November 16-18, 2016, in Vienna, Austria. ARIADNE will be conducting a session and a round table at this event.

ARIADNE has provided trans-national access (TNA) for the last two years and applications for access for the third year recently opened. The experiences gained from the two previous years allows us to reflect on what works well and where there are still challenges.
24 Feb 16The Alexandria Archive Institute (AAI) and the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) recently announced a partnership for DAI to provide mirror hosting and backups for AAI’s innovative data publishing program for archaeology, Open Context.

ARIADNE warmly invites submissions of papers from researchers, projects and publishers working on this topic to a session on Open Access and Open Data in Archaeology to be held at EAA 2016 in Vilnius.
