• ARIADNE Stakeholder Survey launched

    21 Nov 13ARIADNE is running a stakeholder survey on user requirements and current practices with regard to the access to research data in archaeology until the end of the year. The network encourages all archaeological researchers and managers of data sets to participate as this will help ARIADNE to develop useful services. As a special incentive, respondents can win a tablet computer (iPad or other make)!

    The ARIADNE project organised a workshop on Data Management Planning and Online Resources for Archaeology which was held just prior to the start of the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA) annual conference in Pilsen, Czech Republic on Wednesday 4 September.

    This workshop was attended by around 25 participants and project partners.  Its main aim was to introduce strategies for effective data management and planning, and to present some of the online data resources available to researchers through ARIADNE.

    The Ariadne special interest group in Linked Data met for the first time on the 5th September during EAA 2013 in Pilsen (Czech Republic).

    During the meeting participants discussed current challenges in the field of Linked Data, areas of interest for the group and relations with other groups working in this field.

  • ARIADNE Funds Training for DAI Archaeologist

    2 Aug 13Felix Schäfer from the Deutsches Archäologisches Institut, Berlin,  spent two weeks with ARIADNE partner ADS, York, learning about their workflows and documentation processes and  collections management system which enabled him to prepare a case study as part of a Good Practice Guide. His training was funded by ARIADNE and the IANUS project.

  • Linked Open Data

    19 Jul 13English Heritage, the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland, Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, the Archaeology Data Service and the University of South Wales are pleased to announce that cultural heritage thesauri and vocabularies are now freely available as Linked Open Data as a preliminary outcome of the SENESCHAL project at:  http://www.heritagedata.org
