  • EDM in a learning context

    19 Sep 14Europeana has published a new case study, looking at two initiatives that have found EDM (Europeana Data Model) a useful resource in teaching professionals and students about metadata and linked open data. One describes a project at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), to teach library staff about linked data in order to apply it locally; the second is a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) offered by the University of North Carolina (UNC) about organizing and discovering data.

    Looking in at the scientific data workshop

    FORTH organized a Workshop on modeling scientific data in cooperation with the ARIADNE Scientific Data special interest group at Plakias on Crete on 21-24 July this year.  The workshop focused on scientific investigation methods for archaeology, but took also into account scientific investigation in biodiversity and geology.

    From June 23rd to 27th, 2014, CNR-ISTI hosted in Pisa the Summer School on “2D/3D Documentation for Archaeology” as part of the ARIADNE Transnational Access (TNA) activities.

    The main  goal of the school was to enable scholars and professionals to endorse and implement modern approaches for the visual multimedia documentation of artworks and archaeological sites (i.e. fieldworks and artefacts), including several innovative approaches to digitize and document our heritage using 3D and enhanced 2D media. Download the programme.
