• Stakeholder Survey Results Published

    1 Jul 14Earlier this year, ARIADNE carried out an extensive survey to identify the Network’s user requirements for kind of e-infrastructures, tools and services to be provided. This consisted of two online questionnaires, one targeted at archaeological researchers and directors of research institutions, and the second targeted the managers or directors of data repositories. 692 researchers and 52 repository managers completed the questionnaires.

    Looking for the ARIADNE Workshop at CAA, Paris

    Partners from the ARIADNE project hosted a workshop at CAA in Paris to introduce archaeological researchers to a variety of on-line data resources, including those held by the three partners providing on-line access to their data as part of the EC Infrastructures funded Advanced Research Infrastructure for Archaeological Dataset Networking (ARIADNE) project.

    The three partners were the Archaeology Data Service (ADS), ARACHNE at the German Archaeological Institute (DAI), and Fasti Online at the International Association of Classical Archaeology (AIAC). In addition to the ARIADNE partners, the workshop featured a presentation on data and data integration in the Digital Archaeological Record (tDAR), an international digital repository based in America for the digital records of archaeological investigations.

    24 Apr 14The SWIB conference (Semantic Web in Libraries, German: “Semantic Web in Bibliotheken”) is an annual conference focusing on Semantic Web and Linked Open Data (LOD) in the library world. It is held by turns in the Cologne region and Hamburg. The topics of talks and workshops at SWIB revolve around opening data, linking data and creating tools and software for LOD production scenarios. These areas of focus are supplemented by presentations of research projects in applied sciences, industry applications, and LOD activities in other areas. SWIB mainly targets IT staff, developers, librarians and researchers.

  • ARIADNE workshop @ CAA

    9 Apr 14ARIADNE is running a workshop at CAA 2014 in Paris on 22nd April to introduce archaeological researchers to online data resources. The workshop will showcase resources held by 3 ARIADNE partners – the ADS archive, DAI’s ARACHNE dataset and AIAC’s Fasti Online Database – and also tDAR, an international digital repository based in America.

    8 Apr 14 ISTI-CNR is offering a summer school on the design of archaeological datasets, in Pisa from 14-18 July 2014. ARIADNE TNA bursaries available. Application deadline extended to 16th June 2014.

    5 Mar 14A Doctoral Scholarship is offered on “Feature Extraction from High Resolution Spatial Data Sets”in the domain of forensic sciences related to archaeology, palaeography and geography at Heidelberg University, Germany.

    27 Feb 14The ARIADNE project is offering researchers the opportunity to apply to participate in summer schools to carry forwards their own research – the deadline for applications in this round has been extended to 13th March 2014.
