7th Int. ISPRS/CIPA Workshop on “3D Virtual Reconstruction and Visualization of Complex Architectures
The 2017 edition will focus on the steps and processes for smart 3D reconstruction, modelling, accessing and understanding of virtual environments from multiple data sources. Topics include:
- Multi-source data and multi-sensors approaches
- Low-cost sensors and open-source algorithms for terrestrial 3D modeling
- Automation in data registration
- Image matching and 3D reconstruction
- Point cloud analysis
- 4D modelling
- Procedural modeling and BIM
- Accuracy requirement and assessment in 3D reconstructions
- Virtual and Augmented Reality applied to the visualization and conservation of complex architectures and heritage
The event will have single-track technical sessions with oral presentations, poster sessions and demos.

Invited Speakers
- Daniel Girardeau-Montaut (The CloudCompare Project): “Cloudcompare: origin, developments, successful stories, future”
- Andreas Nüchter (University of Wurzburg, Germany): “Efficient 3D Point Cloud Processing with 3DTK – The 3D Toolkit”
Panel Session: “3D Mass Digitization – Future Trends, Challenges and Opportunities”:
In the context of large-scale 3D digitization, there is a significant need for 1) improved acquisition processes, 2) 3D-centered and web-based annotation systems for object classification and metadata enrichment, 3) technical solutions for long-term storage and standardized data formats and 4) 3D visualization and 3D printing technologies. During this interactive session, we want to start a discussion among practitioners and researchers on the challenges in the areas mentioned above, aiming to better implement and make use of 3D mass digitization in long term.
Special Session
3D applications in underwater environments
