AIAC, founded in 1948, provides an international forum for Classical Archaeology, promoting communication between archaeologists and publishing archaeological discoveries and events. Since 2003 AIAC has published the Fasti Online, an ever-expanding GIS database of archaeological excavations in participating countries. Translated from the national language into english, the database now contains over 2600 records. These sum up the results of excavations for all periods and allows searches on all possible terms. A further layer, showing conservation projects, is under construction with the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM).
Our role in Ariadne is to serve as a liason for the foreign institutions in Rome and Athens and to create links with similar databases (Gallia Informations, Oasis, Archaeological Reports etc.) while continuing to expand the Fasti site to new countries.
